DEFINITION: Sexual assault is ANY form of sexual contact without consent or permission. People do not ask for, cause, invite, or deserve to be sexually assaulted. Sexual assault is a choice made by the offender and does not happen by accident. The victim/survivor is never responsible for the assault. If something like this has happened to you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Sexual assault happens most often by people we know and may care for and trust. It can be confusing and overwhelming. It can be helpful to talk to someone, but can feel awkward to talk to friends and family. You can call the shelter at anytime to ask questions, get support and/or make an appointment with Sarah, the Sexual Assault Program Coordinator. We are here to listen to you and support you. There is no limit to the services you can receive here and you can tell as much or as little of your story as you feel comfortable. We are here for you! Things you can do to increase your personal safety:
425-1176, or toll-free 1-888-425-1176. We are here for you, 24 hours a day / 7 Days a week. | ||
